The Erotic Show at 788 was a success, unfortunately i didnt have anything in the show, i could have done some "Porn Gems" as my friend erica likes to call them but overall it was a crazy, awesome, fantastic night. I'll post some photos but most are NSFW.
So i created this peice in my head after meeting miss lauren, whom was half naked and wearing a purple wig and driving home rocking out to some music my friend sue gave me.
I recently Purchased a lot of card stock paper and poster paper from a store that was going out of business. So it gave me the idea to do a 3 color print.
I'll admit, i was still in a blur when i started sketching this out. As usual i sketched it out, transferred it to the computer, did a little work on it, then printed it out, did more work on it and went from there.
I was using The Press that we made last year (handbuilt) so registration isnt perfect, but i got it as close to perfection as possible. The new 6 color press has millimeter registration so if i had used that press i wouldnt have run into the same problems. (i.e. some prints colors arent dead on)
This is the initial test, i liked how it came out, The other screens were a large blob (that my friend never told me to just use a cutout instead of actually burning, because 1. it'll cut down on prep time. 2. i can get more textures, etc etc, which is true.
I ran into a problem when the paper was reacting with the ink (very strange, never happened before) and curling like crazy, it's heavy stock but i think the metallic finish of the paper was sucking itself in. So a bit of adhesive spray solved the problem.
On the Drying line.
This is the final outcome using the first screen i burned with all the detail, however i didnt like how the Sun wasnt defined or how much detail i lost in the hair. i later burned another screen.
This is the last screen i burned, and not only is the sun defined now but i added more detail to the overall print. It was a great learning experience using this type of paper, that goes well with the overall theme of the print.
They will be up for sale in the online store in the next couple weeks. Keep checking!
Here's the song that got me jumping into this idea along with the picture of lauren how she was made up that night.
